Our youth in middle school and high school led our service yesterday because Fifth Sundays are Youth Sunday in our congregation. From Greeters at the door to servers at the Communion Table, we saw young faces.
Megan Brackenridge led worship, welcoming the congregation, making announcements, and leading the Call to Worship. The entire youth group read Jeremiah 1:4-10 as a coral reading, dividing the conversation between God and Jeremiah into parts. Pastor Barbara read the extra words, like “The Lord said….” Then the group read, in unison, the words of the Lord. Colten Hedrick read the words of Jeremiah. Ben Vickers, Bobby Huber, Dustin Burlingame, and Pastor Barbara presented a four part sermon from this text. Before communion Kayla Cochran and Megan read Psalm 71:1-6
Other greeters, acolytes, and servers included Becky McConnaughey, Brandon Parker, Tyral Sloan, and Sam Sloan. Pastor Barbara presented a Children’s Moment, calling each child by name, reminding everyone that the Lord knows our name and has special plans for us. Or as Ben said, "The Lord knows more about us that we really want him to know!"
