April 1, 2001--April Fool's Day--my ordination! We celebrated the foolishness of God.
But God chose the foolish things of the world to shame the wise; God chose the weak things of the world to shame the strong. He chose the lowly things of this world and the despised things--and the things that are not--to nullify the things that are, so that no one may boast before him. 1 Corinthians 1:27-29
Friday the 13th--April 13, 2012--I began the 'retirement' process with the Pension Fund of the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ)
The ordination date was intentional, but I did not think of today's date until after the fact! The world looks at Friday the 13th as an unlucky day, but I see it as a very special turning point in my life--the first day of the rest of my life. God's faithfulness assures me that God has, indeed, made foolish the wisdom of the world!
For the foolishness of God is wiser than man's wisdom, and the weakness of God is stronger than man's strength. 1 Corinthians 1:23
Even to your old age and gray hair I am he, I am he who will sustain you. I have made you and I will carry you; I will sustain you and I will rescue you. Isaiah 46:4
